There are many benefits of a pondless water feature, for example, you can have the sight and sound of running water with almost no danger to little ones. Since there is no pond, there is very little maintenance.

There are many variables that go into the amount of maintenance required on a water feature. For instance, if you install a pondless rock spillover feature on a deck under a porch that has little to no exposure to the elements there is going to be almost no maintenance required. Comparatively, if you install a waterfall and pond on your patio with no coverage and near trees or shrubbery, there is going to be a fair amount of cleaning and maintenance required.
In short, sometimes. But if you install a pondless water feature than the chances you will attract mosquitoes is very low. Mosquitoes are attracted to standing water and with a pondless waterfall, there is no exposed standing water.
A pondless waterfall and other water features are fairly easy to take care of throughout the winter. You can leave the pump on all year long, as long as you make sure it doesn't run out of water and there are no ice dams formed that push the water out over the lining. If water is slowed down to the point of it freezing, it can cause permanent damage to the pump consisting of a pricey repair. If you want to be a little safer, you can either remove the pump during the winter and store it inside, or drain the water from the pond and pump and keep off during the winter.
