Transition is key when producing a well thought out design. How will the new fit with the old, how will it feel to step into a new space, and how will it change their daily life? These are thoughts that come to mind when we put together a new design. With this project, I notice how smooth the transition is from the house into the spaciously inviting porch, I imagine the sensory receptors going off as you cross the threshold. Feelings of a cool breeze on your skin, your eyes refocus to adjust for the increase of light, the smell of fresh air yet, protected. Sheltered by the roof above and screen walls around, completely free to relax day or night, rain or shine. When ready, you transition again this time onto an open deck space. Again, noticing the warmth of the sun on your skin, feeling completely at home. Perhaps, this comes from being at your home. Knowing that the new deck you’re now standing on is here to stay for many years of joyful use. And with low maintenance products such as Timbertech Pecan decking and Keylink cable railing, that use will be as maintenance free as possible!
