Locatedin Ontario County, NY, Manchester is a town that covers approximately 31 square miles and has a population of around 9,000 residents. It is situated in the Finger Lakes region, known for its scenic beauty. All around the town there is a mix of rolling hills, picturesque farmland, and charming, small-town communities. Manchester is located just south of the city of Rochester, and offers a peaceful, close knit community. 

To take a look at the history of Manchester we need to go back to the late 18th century, when the town was settled. It was originally a part of the Phelps and Gorham Purchase, a large tract of land acquired from the Iroquois Indians. The town of Manchester was officially established as a town in 1833, and its early economy relied primarily on agriculture, with farming and fruit growing becoming important industries. 

The construction of the Auburn and Rochester Railroad in the mid-19th century brought significant economic growth and development to the area. Later, Manchester played a role in the abolitionist movement and the Underground Railroad, with several notable abolitionists living in the area. Today, the town still embraces its cultural heritage while offering a blend of rural charm and historical significance.
