Henrietta was first settled in 1790. It was named after the wife of Sir William Pulteney who owned the land on which the town was established. The town has an interesting history and was home to several stops on the Underground Railroad. Two notable abolitionists were Issac and Amy Post, a Quaker couple, and wealthy local businessman, Hiam Sibley. The town is now home to the Rochester Institute of Technology and Byant & Stratton College.
