History of Harford County

Harford County, established on March 22, 1774, was formed from the eastern part of Baltimore County. It was named after Henry Harford, the last Proprietary Governor of Maryland and the illegitimate son of Frederick Calvert, 6th Baron Baltimore. The county played a significant role during the American Revolution, hosting the signers of the Bush Declaration in 1775, which called for independence from British rule.
