Choose the features for your perfect porch in Downingtown
Open Porch
The standard porch with a roof and open sides. The roof provides protection from direct sunlight, rain, and other types of precipitation. The walls are open allowing easy access to the outdoors.
Screened-in Porch
Protect yourself from bugs and bees while still enjoying the fresh breeze. Screens can be made from lightweight fiberglass mesh to heavier metal for added security.
Enclosed Porch
Also referred to as “sun rooms,” enclosed porches provide a year-round living space. Enclosed porches are appealing since they can serve as a year-round living space.
Front Porch
A front porch is the most traditional type of porch. It’s popular with homeowners wanting to create a welcoming area for guests. It remains a popular choice for both new home builds and remodeling projects.
Portico
Elevate your home's entrance with a grand portico, a timeless addition that adds curb appeal and style. It provides shelter from the elements, creating a shaded and inviting entryway.
Retractable Porch
Create a year-round living area with walls or garage doors that can be opened. When it is cold, you can close the doors or walls and bring in a heater. And when it is warm, you can open everything up and enjoy the beautiful spring air or summer breeze.

The town of Downingtown is located along the Lincoln Highway (now part of U.S. Route 30) which runs from the East Coast to the West Coast. It was an early westward road in the wagon days as the Philadelphia and Lancaster Turnpike. The Lincoln Highway was the first paved road to cross the nation from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Construction of the Pennsylvania Turnpike started in the early 1940s and was completed in the early 1950s; it runs north of US 30, bypassing Downingtown.
According to Wikipedia, the city has initiated some widespread and continuing renovation in downtown, particularly to the streetscape; private owners have similarly renovated many commercial buildings. There has also been residential development on recovered industrial lands (brown fields) in the southeastern part of the borough. Downingtown is the location of some large regional and national businesses, including First National Bank of Chester County, and Victory Brewing Company, and formerly DNB First (acquired by S&T Bank in 2019).
According to Downtingtown.org,
Downingtown is experiencing a revitalization with many new projects currently underway, as well as, proposed projects which will enhance our future growth and provide many types of opportunities for our residents. The anticipated River Station project, a transit oriented development, is scheduled to begin construction in the near future by The Hankin Group. The development will be constructed at the former Sonoco Paper Mill site. River Station will provide opportunities for new commercial businesses, restaurants and residential living with easy access to transit and pedestrian trails.
