Victor, NY, was formed in 1812. Its economics were closely tied to farming and agriculture. In the mid-1800s, manufacturing began to play a larger role as various mills and other factories were built along the local streams. Like some of its neighboring towns, Victor was a stop on the Underground Railroad. Prominent abolitionist and former slave, Frederick Douglass visited Victor and gave a speech in the local Baptist church. The town has grown significantly since its early days but has retained its historic charm. As of the 2021 census, it is home to 15,458 people.
