Exton is a CDP in Chester County, PA, with a population of 5,622 as of 2020. Exton is a major shopping district in Chester County, with both the Exton Square Mall and Main Street at Exton, along with several other shopping centers.

The community of Exton is located at the intersection of US Route 30 and Pennsylvania route 100. The theory goes that Exton was named for being an X on the map, denoting the intersection, but it is more likely that Exton was named for one of eh several Extons in the UK.

In the late 1940s, Exton was the home of the Newcomen Society of the United States, which was built overlooking farmland on Newcomen Road. The campus featured offices, a printing shop, library, museum, guest houses, and more. The society has since been dissolved, but the campus remains an Exton Landmark to this day and is now the headquarters for another business.

The opening of the Exton Square Mall led to rapid growth in West Whiteland Township. Since the opening, numerous other shopping centers and office parks have been built in the township.
